" If America uses a nuclear weapon in Iraq and the Russian
early-warning satellite with its infrared detector picks up
the heat from that explosion it could misinterpret that as an
American first strike to launch its nuclear weapons and it could
by accident launch their nuclear weapons (as Yeltsin nearly
did). That would be the end of life on earth, not just America
will be incinerated (and Australia
because we are full of American bases). It only takes a thousand
H-bombs exploding over a hundred cities to induce the end of
life on earth because a huge cloud of black whirling radioactive
oily smoke rises up to cover the earth and block out the sun
