tadao ando

Tadao Ando, in an interview in January 2002, attacked the state of the Japanese city, laying the blame with greed and a lack of the right kind of education. Of his own students he says,"forty out of 50 students are merely there because they did well in the entrance exams. They are superficial elites." Read the article here.

gordon bunshaft Pritzker = prize 1988 The art institute of Chiago has a HEAP of interviews with architects who have built in Chicago. There is a 332 page interview with Gordon Bunshaft, from 1989. Bunshaft on education: "Architecture, let’s say, is the whole alphabet, A to X-Y-Z. As far as schooling goes, it’s A-B-C. There are twenty-three more letters or something. So the word “training” sounds profound, but it isn’t. You’re just getting awakened to it." AIC/ARCHITECTS
